New Zealand General Service Medal 2002 (Solomon Islands)

The New Zealand General Service Medal 2002 (Solomon Islands) recognises service in the Solomon Islands contributing to the re-establishment of government and peace after the 2000 coup d’état. It was awarded to New Zealand personnel who served in the Solomon Islands and its waters between June 2000 and June 2002 including the International Peace Monitoring Team, and to those who served with the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) from 2003-2013

The New Zealand General Service Medal 2002 (NZGSM 2002) was established to recognise the service of New Zealand Defence Force and civilian personnel in operations since 1 January 2000. Specific campaign service is denoted by different ribbon designs. The NZGSM 2002 (Solomon Islands) ribbon is green with narrow central stripes of dark blue and yellow. These are also the main colours of the Flag of the Solomon Islands.
